A sense of fall colors rolls gently on the tongue in this Pumpkin Chocolate Old Fashioned, of which is named after one of my favorite cities in the world! I’m not actually a huge Old Fashioned drinker, but this recipe does put a fancy spin on it, and is even the color of some of the dead leaves that float around this time of year. It’s the great pumpkin patch filled with a little chocolate and a lot of bourbon forward action, so I’m digging this right now. Make yourself one of these and pretend you are taking a nap in a pumpkin patch already! It does taste great when it’s had a few minutes to let the ice take it down a peg, then you notice the slight pumpkin flavor with a back end of my favorite…chocolate!

Looks like a lot of ingredients, which is basically true but it couldn’t feel more festive for the Autumn/Halloween season. This drink isn’t too sweet and has just enough of each flavor to keep you guessing where it is on your tongue. It’s not a super in-your-face dessert cocktail at all. Of course if you want it to be sweeter, just add more maple syrup or make an easy equal parts water/sugar simple syrup. A few drops of liquid stevia does the trick too.
